Congresswoman Gillibrand Addresses NEW Luncheon

U.S. Congresswoman Kirsten Gillibrand spoke briefly with attendees at today's ARCC Network for Enterprising Women (NEW) about the status of Congressional efforts to pass an economic stimulus package. She noted that the US economy has not yet entered into a recession but that the Congress doesn't want to wait to act to help America's small businesses and working families. Most notably, she indicated her support for a tax rebate plan passed by the Congress that would provide $600 per person, $1,200 for couples and an added $300 per child to US taxpayers plus various incentives to help businesses to invest in their companies. She also indicated that long term economic reform is needed including property tax relief, increased tax credits for savings and the costs of a college education, as well as investments in renewable energy and infrastructure.
