Trapper’s Adirondack Grille to be converted to new Johnny Rockets restaurant

Johnny Rockets to Open in Queensbury

Officials at The Great Escape Properties today announced plans to convert Trapper’s Adirondack Grille, the main restaurant serving the Six Flags Great Escape Lodge & Indoor Waterpark, to a new Johnny Rockets restaurant, the first eatery of its kind in the North Country. At 3,400 square feet, the full service restaurant in Queensbury is expected to be one of the largest freestanding Johnny Rockets restaurants in the United States.

Construction is scheduled to begin in mid-March and the restaurant is anticipated to open in June 2008. Johnny Rockets will serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner to the general public and to guests of the Six Flags Great Escape Lodge & Indoor Waterpark.

Restaurant patrons can look forward to great-tasting food from a menu of all-American favorites including juicy hamburgers, hand-dipped shakes & malts and hot fresh fries. Guests will also enjoy an all-American diner look and feel, servers who know the secret behind getting ketchup out of the bottle, tabletop jukeboxes that belt out tunes for a nickel and authentic décor.

“We are thrilled to announce the creation of a new Johnny Rockets restaurant in Queensbury,” said Don McCoy, President of The Great Escape Properties. “We expect that Johnny Rockets will be extremely appealing to the local community and guests of The Great Escape and Six Flags Great Escape Lodge & Indoor Waterpark. The restaurant’s classic all-American menu, authentic 50’s decor and family fun will certainly complement the attractions of The Great Escape Properties.”

Over the next several months, Trapper’s Adirondack Grille will be renovated and converted to a full service Johnny Rockets restaurant. The interior will be completely remodeled, upgraded and re-themed to Johnny Rockets specifications, and will offer three meals each day, as well as take-out service.

The announcement comes almost one year after The Great Escape’s parent company, Six Flags, Inc. announced a multi-year strategic relationship with Johnny Rockets restaurants allowing the company to open franchise eateries at its theme parks. There are currently six Johnny Rockets restaurants in operation at Six Flags theme parks in Los Angeles, Chicago, Dallas, New Jersey, San Antonio and St. Louis, with plans to open nine more locations this year in addition to the Queensbury location.

Johnny Rockets has received numerous acknowledgements from customers in cities across the United States, including “Best Hamburger” on Los Angeles’ Citysearch Website, “Best Fries” in Atlanta, “Best Family Friendly Restaurant” in San Francisco and “Best Hamburger” by FOX Miami. The company, which is based in Lake Forest, California, prides itself on providing a simple, fresh menu and providing prompt, friendly service in a clean environment.

The Six Flags Great Escape Lodge & Indoor Waterpark is off to a great start in 2008, and the Lodge will remain in full operation during the construction period continuing to offer great deals on suite packages and outstanding food options at its other restaurant facilities.

The 2008 season is also shaping up to be an exciting one for The Great Escape. In addition to the Johnny Rockets announcement, The Great Escape & Splashwater Kingdom will add several new major attractions in 2008 including Wiggles World, a themed children’s area based on The Wiggles, the most popular children’s entertainers in the world, and the Mega Wedgie, a thrilling new waterslide in Splashwater Kingdom.

Season passes for The Great Escape’s 2008 season are currently available for $69.99 (plus tax), the lowest price of the season, at sixflags.com and at participating Price Chopper locations.
