A Day of Caring

The Chamber's Leadership Adirondack class and members of the ARCC's Young Professionals Organization teamed up this week to provide volunteer labor to help a wide range of the region's charitable organizations.

The organizations which benefitted from this effort included: the Salvation Army, the Tri-County United Way, the Open Door Soup Kitchen, the Wait House - Homeless Youth Coalition, the Washington County Economic Opportunity Council, the Community Action Center, and the Family Services Center.

Among the many tasks completed by this group of volunteers, these local business leaders: prepared sandwiches for the Soup Kitchen, moved 4,000 pounds of food from the Salvation Army's offices in Glens Falls to Hudson Falls, sorted and stocked the EOC food pantry, organized Thanksgiving baskets for Family Services, sorted and organized donations stored in the basement of the Wait House, shipped food donated through Glens Falls National Bank from the United Way to area food pantries in Warren and Washington Counties, and cleared space in the basement of the Community Action Center for their clothing distribution program.
