A National Grid representative helped him identify and implement $125,000 in energy-efficiency upgrades at five city-owned buildings, providing taxpayers with an annual savings of $40,000.
National Grid will pay up to 70% of the cost of the installation of energy-efficient lighting and refrigeration equipment for small businesses that qualify - those using 100 kilowatts or less per month - and offers several financing options to help customers with the remaining portion:

- Interest-free financing for up to 24 months
- 15% discount for a lump-sum payment
- Lighting upgrades
- Energy-efficient time clocks
- Photo cells for outdoor lighting
- Occupancy sensors
- Programmable thermostats
- Walk-in cooler measures
