Storm Chaser

ARCC President Todd Shimkus and his colleagues in the Emerging Cities Council of the American Chamber of Commerce Executives recently met in Fort Myers , Florida , to discuss best practices among these 20+ chambers throughout the nation. As part of this conference, the participants attended a luncheon hosted by the Greater Fort Myers Chamber of Commerce, an Emerging Cities Chamber itself, and had the chance to hear from Jim Cantore, a leading meteorologist and on-air celebrity with the Weather Channel. After the luncheon, several of the Chamber executives had the chance to meet with Jim Cantore who is very interested in playing the Sagamore Golf Course. He grew up in White River Junction, Vermont and has attended a wedding at the Sagamore but has never played the course. The subject of the Sagamore came up when Jim was asked by Todd for a forecast for the Chamber’s upcoming golf tournament. "I was counting on the fact that he might have heard of the Sagamore and that this might be a way to encourage him to attend an ARCC function in the future where he could speak to our members," said the ever-ambitious Shimkus.

What do you think about someone like Jim Cantore coming to our area to speak?
Let us know. Or leave a comment suggesting another person you might like to have speak at an ARCC event.
