The State's Teachers Union is spending hundreds of thousands of dollars on television ads that distort the truth about tax caps. They're bullying tactics stretch from the airwaves to include withholding campaign support for anyone in the legislature that dares support this bipartisan initiative. Unfortunately when these bullies ask the Assembly to jump, the Assembly Speaker and his supporters ask how high. The real tragedy is how high our property taxes will continue to rise as long as the Teacher's Union calls the shots. Here's hoping we're wrong and that a compromise that includes a tax cap, mandate relief and a circuit breaker can be worked out. That would be the win-win-win everyone in New York deserves but which the Teacher's Union fears the most.
