Sunkiss Balloon Festival Debuts Sept. 10 -12 at SUNY Adirondack and Kingswood Golf Course

NBT Bank and AmeriGas are proud to present the SunKiss Balloon Festival September 10th-12th to the tri-county area. NBT Bank has made it possible for the specially-shaped hot air balloon, the USA Flag, to come to our area and fly over our communities. AmeriGas has been a continued supporter of the event and has made this festival possible for our communities.

This year the SunKiss Balloon Festival has become the “official” balloon festival of SUNY Adirondack. Organizers of the festival have worked closely with the college putting together commemorative merchandise that will be sold at the event to raise money for the Student Senate activities throughout the year. Friday’s activities begin with a ribbon cutting ceremony with the Adirondack Regional Chamber of Commerce Ambassadors as well as representatives from SUNY Adirondack at 4PM sharp. The ribbon cutting ceremony will be followed by a mass accension of 20 hot air balloons and a specially-shaped static display. The college will have various carnival games as well as concessions available. The main entrance to the college will only be open to balloon teams and crew. All others are asked to use the Haviland Road entrance and parking. There is no admission to the festival but it is suggested that spectators bring a non-perishable food item to help the local pantries fill their cupboards.

Saturday through Sunday morning at approximately 6:30 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., 30 hot air balloons, including the special shapes, will take to the skies from Kingswood Golf Course in Hudson Falls, NY. The golf course has been a major supporter of the event and balloonists in the area for many years. The hot air balloons bring a unique atmosphere to the golfers. Saturday will also include a special ceremony dedicated to remembering the annual anniversary of September 11th events including a moment of silence. Also on site at Kingswood there will be musical entertainment by Premiere Sound, a bounce house, face painting, airbrush tattoos by the Artbucket, and FROGGY 107.1 live on location. There are free flight hot air balloon rides for sale as well as tethered balloon rides. There will be concessions by Ostrander Concessions, The Glens Falls Rotary Club and Yota’s Ice Cream Novelties and Treats. SUNY Adirondack volunteers will be on site all weekend selling their merchandise for their largest fundraiser of the year.
